The Association of Pan American Nikkei is comprised of the following nations: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, USA and Venezuela.
APN’s constitution was established in 1981 with main objectives being to:
1. Promote solidarity amongst its members sharing different realities and experiences.
2. Exchange historical data.
3. Inform about the achievements reached by the Nikkei communities.
4. Promote the divulgement of the ancestral culture.
5. Promote the technical cultural development of each Nikkei community.
Since the New York Pan American Nikkei Convention in 2001, a further purpose is to train Nikkei leaders with the goal of global development.

Nikkei Communities have developed and thrived in various parts of the world for over 100 years now. What are our legacies, histories, opportunities, strengths and challenges? From July 7-9, 2005, the National Association of Japanese Canadians and the Greater Vancouver Japanese Canadian Citizens Association are co-hosting the Thirteenth Biennial Convention of the Association of Pan American Nikkei, (COPANI XIII) at the Hyatt Hotel, Vancouver, British Columbia. The theme of XIII COPANI is Our Heritage and Health in the 21st Century. This international conference wholeheartedly welcomes all participants, including and especially youth delegates. Participants will explore historic sites, make and renew friendships, learn about other communities, countries, and gain knowledge in areas such as

・ Human Rights
・ Cultural Development related to heritage language education, identity, and institutions (museums)
・ Social and Community Development
